Neil and I went to Seattle to visit our friends Edward and Kirk, and stayed at their house. We spent a day visiting beautiful Bloedel Gardens on Bainbridge Island. On the ferry from Seattle Neil struck up a friendship with two ladies visiting from Austin, Texas, Carol and Tina. Hanging out with our new friends added a lot of laughter to our trip. Bloedel Gardens takes advantage of the climate of Seattle that is great for many kinds of ornamental plants from wetter parts of the world. The formal park-like landscape design dating from early 20th century were wonderful, as were the Japanese tea house and gardens. Even the ferry enjoys superb views of expansive Puget Sound, Seattle skyline, and majestic Mount Rainier in the distance.
