We drove north to Bellingham and hiked to a tarn at the foot of Mount Shuksan in North Cascades National Park. Being the most glaciated mountain range in the lower 48 states, the northern Cascades have dramatic scenery, among which Mount Shuksan is the most striking. Mount Shuksan's many rock towers are laden with many sizable glaciers, our hike got us close to the Curtis Glacier. The weather was overcast and sometimes Mount Baker was hidden in clouds, but we didn't experience much precipitation except for some drizzle.
