Robins River, Westmoreland, Jamaica
Friday, February 18, 2011

We stayed with Neil's uncle for a few days at Robins River, a rural area about 30 miles south of Montego Bay. Unfortunately the driving conditions on the narrow highways through the mountains were too scary for us from the states, so none of us volunteered to drive. These narrow roads have no center stripes and many potholes, yet local drivers seems to be racing on them. Relying on local drivers to get around, we went to few places.

The house we stayed at was built by an expatriate uncle of Neil who recently retired from Canada. It's a very large house smack in the middle of a huge piece of land surrounded by lush hills and forest. Groups of relatives with their kids in tow drove here to see us from all over Jamaica each day, making the house very lively. We did make an excursion to the beach nearby and enjoyed swimming in the warm waters.
