San German, Puerto Rico
Wednesday, December 27, 2006

It took several days for us to get a car rental from an local agency in San Juan, most agencies had run out of cars. We drove to a mountain resort in the interior, near Utuado. This is a place in the lush central cordillera mountains, with daily Yoga classes. The cabins were quite comfortable. Each day we drove south and west to explore the rest of the island, reaching San German, one of the oldest colonial towns in Puerto Rico with a 17th century church, then to Cabo Rojo, the beautiful cliffs at the southwestern end of the island with a lighthouse on top. We also explored the coastal park near Guarnica and the city of Ponce on the southern coast. It was fun and relaxing.
