Lone Pine

Lone Pine, California, United States
Sunday, December 24, 1995

Went with my friend Wei during the winter holidays. Drove to the Whitney Portal area from Lone Pine to admire the view of the highest mountain in continental United States, then drove through Death Valley to Las Vegas. The weather was stormy and dramatic, we even encountered blowing rain in Death Valley, but the rain was warm. Las Vegas was rather uninteresting to us.

Whats the best way to get from Lone Pine to Three Rivers, CA We are driving from Yosemite to Death Valley via 395 then need to get back to Three Rivers on the other side of Sequoia NP...We've got time. From debvz, on Feb 28, 2010 at 10:34PM
The quickest way is through Tehachapi Pass on Hwy 58 linking Hwy 99 and US 395. There are two other alternatives, one is Hwy 178, and the other is a very long winding forest road further north, via Kennedy Meadows and Johnsondale. The latter one will probably take 4+ hours but should be more scenic since you're in higher mountains. I'm not familiar with either of these two routes. From gordon.ye, on Mar 1, 2010 at 06:20PM
